We’ve woken up to the news that there’s to be further coronavirus restrictions in England – with the effect of presumably making gatherings limited to 6 people.
Under the present regulations, sites that hold Airsoft skirmishes don’t come into restrictions on gatherings for a number of reasons – however given this Government’s propensity to wait until about 17 minutes before new regulations come into effect to actually inform people about what has changed, we think it’s best to keep an eye out.

As sites are beginning to reopen and skirmishers who feel comfortable with the current situation are beginning to return to skirmishing whilst abiding by the numerous CoVID-19 related regulations, it’s only natural that some of our members have questions to ask.
If there’s anything that you’d like to ask us, we’re here for you and our inbox is open as always.
But from what I’ve seen and heard so far, sites and skirmishers are acting safely. Keep up the good work everyone 🙂

Today marks the point where – within England at least, some sites are choosing to reopen on the basis of the latest Coronavirus guidance and regulations issued by the UK Government.
We won’t be returning to skirmishing immediately – however for our members (and those in the wider Airsoft community) who are choosing to return sooner rather than later, we can’t stress enough how important it is for skirmishers to follow the directions of site staff and marshals.
Stay safe out there.

Unsurprisingly we at UKAPU have been often aasked about our opinions of when it will be safe to properly resume skirmishing again – and in the couple of notices that we’ve issued previously we’ve given our negative stance – but not necessarily gone into detail as to our reasoning.
I’ve been making notes of changes in legislation – however not guidance, as guidance itself doesn’t create or modify legislation. Just potentially influencing opinion instead.
Therefore I’ll be hopefully be updating this notice when changes happen – and during the weekend publish my opinions for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
At present it isn’t worth publishing a notice for Wales as the regulations are still rather strict, and could easily be summed up in as little as two words.
We’ve also given a rough estimate of a date of when committee members think that we would be comfortable skirmishing again – this is a date that has been mentioned internally in our committee, is truthfully a guess and is likely to change without rhyme nor reason at a moment’s notice.
Anyhow, here’s the notice for England.

It has been brought to our attention that there may be other sites that are actively making plans to re-open – to the point of issuing a definitive date of when skirmishes will recommence.
As we’ve made clear in the past, our position as an organisation is not to interfere with the running of shops and sites without good reason – we are primarily an organisation for supporting skirmishers, run by skirmishers.
However the committee would like to re-iterate its concern over the speed at which some sites are planning on re-opening. We feel that it is too soon to safely resume skirmishing at present.
This decision isn’t one that is based on legislation – a topic, much like the official guidance, is upon inspection quite murky – but is purely a pragmatic one, based on our personal experiences of Airsoft.
