Facebook announcement – Jan 3rd

Members,

I hope you’ve enjoyed the festivities and hope that the lucky few who received some glorious gifts off of Santa(!) have got just what they wished for.

Perhaps… you might want to try them out on the 13th?

This is just a gentle reminder that we have our AGM coming up, where we’ll be at The Gaol Events in Oakham.

Turn up, chat, skirmish, listen to some interesting stories. Help move Airsoft forward in the UK.

Three things that people should be aware of:

– Deadline for topics to be discussed at the AGM will be the 31st; via the website, a public comment or via messages

– If you are attending the game day and/or the meeting afterwards, feel free to let us know via sending us a message! We’d like to know numbers.

❄️ A chilling effect for Airsofters on social media? ❄️

We at UKAPU have been informed that an airsoft skirmisher had been arrested because someone had made a complaint about a photograph which was of this person – along with a RIF he was holding.

Now, we can’t comment too much on this case yet as the case may still be on-going (and details are sparse) – however, I feel that there are strong similarities with the very unfortunate (and interesting) case of the skirmisher up in Scotland which even made national press. (More on that one later)

Given how I suspect no one would like to have a discussion with several kitted up police officers over what may seem to be a harmless picture the committee would like to recommend skirmishers give some extra thought when it comes to posting pictures of them playing Airsoft on social media.

We are not going as far as recommending our members to not post pictures of themselves playing airsoft, but that they should acknowledge any potential risks (which this topic in hand is an extreme risk) and act accordingly.

With social media, anyone within reason can see the content you publish. Give some thought as to how someone – who may not have even heard of Airsoft – would view your online presence.

💥 Important AGM Announcement 💥

And no, the announcement isn’t that I’ve started to over-use emojis to grab your attention, but more that UKAPU will soon be holding its Annual General Meeting.

Got any questions you’d like to pose to us? Perhaps you have an idea you’d like to put forward, or you want to help shape Airsoft – heck, maybe you’re just wanting a day out skirmishing in a former jail (prison garments not included) – then come on down to The Gaol Events in Oakham for about 9am on the 13th of January.

(so, one month and 7 hours or so away!!)

This is for members only, but, there is nothing stopping you from joining UKAPU for FREE now (or later, still for free, unless you do wish to donate to an absolutely worthy cause) via https://www.ukapu.org.uk/join/

If you’re planning on coming across, feel free to let us know!

Facebook announcement – Dec 8th

Good Evening.

As I imagine many of the community are already aware, Contact Front Airsoft in Dorset were broken into, and a large number of RIF’s and other airsoft equipment have stolen. There has recently been a spate of such thefts from sites and retailers around the UK, this of course harms not only the businesses that suffer these thefts, but also the wider airsoft sport.

Please be vigilant for any unusually cheap airsoft gear, a breakdown of what was stolen is below:

-35 G36 rifles

– 5 mp5s

– 1 x 66mm LAW

– 1 replica GPMG

– 30 bags of ammunition

– Ammo tins containing mk5s, Smokes and frags.

– A number of black tac vests and DPM chest rigs.

Keep your eyes and ears open, lets try and see those responsible brought to justice, and with a bit of luck, the stolen goods returned.
